DIY Solar Panels? Don’t Even Try to Build Solar Panels For Your Home
Ok, I know there is a lot of buzz these days about renewable energy, especially solar and wind energy. And there also is a lot of hype about DIY solar panels and DIY wind turbines. BUT, do you really think you can build your own solar panels? Really? Don’t you know you have to have a professional installation team come and assemble and mount the solar panels on your roof?
Right?
Well……actually the truth is that you can build your own solar panels…Well, I should clarify. If you are decently intelligent and willing to put in some time and effort and purchase the necessary parts, you can build your own panels.
DO NOT even try to build solar panels if…
- You have no motivation to follow instructions
- Don’t know what a screwdriver is
- Watch television 12 hours a day
- Prefer to keep paying the electric company for your electricity as much as possible
But, if those characteristics do not describe you, then you most definitely can succeed.
Recently, I got into the whole DIY scene, especially solar and wind power projects. I’ve always enjoyed working with my hands and doing projects, so I figured I’d give it a try. I purchased one of the DIY guides that was available online. It was pretty cool, had several different manuals – some for solar power and some for wind power, along with a really nice tutorial video series. It simplified the whole process and gave clear parts and tools lists and directions to follow.
Right now I’m in the midst of the construction process; I’m not quite finished with my solar panel project, but I will be soon. I’ve enjoyed the project and it hasn’t been extremely difficult. The videos from the guide really helped. All they do is follow the host as he builds his own solar panel system, and he narrates and explains exactly what he is doing the whole time, so I pretty much just watch him and replicate what he is doing on the video. Not a complicated process.
I definitely recommend giving the solar panel project a shot; I’m sure you can be successful and get some great, money-saving, environment-helping, solar panels up on your roof.
Go for it! Build those solar panels this weekend!
Avoid These Common Kitchen Design Mistakes When Designing Your Kitchen
You may have noticed the latest kitchen designs at Home Depot or come across a few online resources. Home improvement magazines are continuously showcasing the newest kitchen design ideas. You may fallen in love with your friend’s new kitchen – it doesn’t matter what motivated you to change the look of your kitchen. However this decision has the prospect to turn into one of your most costly home projects.
If you are planning on undertaking your own kitchen design then you need to remember that this requires meticulous planning and accurate measurements. Ample things can go wrong when you are remodeling your kitchen. If you recognize the common mistakes then you will know what to keep away from.
Pre-Planning your Kitchen Design
The following are things that an owner should take into account when undertaking kitchen design. The time and cost of a job is vital – it can be expensive to replace the floor or ceiling. Removing a wall is another problematic area. You should take an accurate measurement before purchasing new doors, windows or even skylights.
Kitchen design often means integrating new appliances into it. You need to consider if you are going to install smaller appliances like a new microwave or larger ones like countertop burners, which may need professional installation? What type of fixtures do you need? Choosing the style and colors before embarking on kitchen design is also quite important. You might want to go in for a color scheme that suits the taste of the entire family. You also want a kitchen that you will be happy with for many years to come.
Fetch In the Experts
If you are planning anything to do with electrics or plumbing then the best advice is to call in an electrician or plumber. Are there other areas where a professional is needed? Plan ahead if you are going to do this because professional help is expensive. There are some jobs such as those mentioned where you really need a professional for safety reasons but otherwise, if you can do it yourself then you will save a considerable amount of money.
Frequent Mistakes Made
When beginning any new design project, acquaint yourself with common home improvement blunders. This is particularly relevant to kitchen design. To begin with, the importance of proper measurements cannot be stressed enough. If you don’t measure things correctly, things will not fit properly. Mistakes like this have the potential to ruin any kitchen design. A number of homeowners don’t comprehend how long, tricky or expensive a kitchen project can turn out to be. To be on the safe side you should overestimate rather than underestimate the costs and time delays.
Lots of homeowners attempt to handle difficult projects on their own to save money. Often, this is unproductive and a professional has to be employed to rectify the mistakes made. This can end up costing you more than anything you might have saved. When hiring professionals, make sure you are giving them enough time to do their job. A common mistake is overlapping the schedules of the different professionals.
When selecting the appliances and materials, there are methods to avoid unnecessary expenditure without having to sacrifice the quality – bear in mind that cheaply made countertops tend to chip off. When purchasing stone or concrete materials, you will have to keep up with regular maintenance to preserve their appearance.
Another mistake with kitchen design is to forget how it might fit with the rest of your house. When remodeling the kitchen, think about the resale aspect of your home as well. You may think hot pink cabinets are rather cool. But the next owner may not feel the same way.
Summary:
Opting for a new kitchen design can be fun. At the same time, it can consume your time and money beyond your anticipation. Don’t forget to pre plan all the aspects so that your new kitchen is well within your time and budget.
