Kitchen Wall Clock – Tick Tock Tick Tock
The kitchen wall clock has been around for decades. It is an excellent device for function as well as decorative purposes. Its main function has been to keep meal preparation on time, but it also helps create an inviting relaxing atmosphere. You can find these clocks in many shapes, finishes, styles, sizes and themes. Some shapes that are offered are rectangular, round, square and novelty shapes. There is also a variety of finishes available. Some examples of these are light and dark wood, ceramic, silver, chrome, brass, plastic, glass and aluminum. Companies offer these clocks with either digital or analog displays and they feature standard, Arabic, Roman numerals or no numbers at all. Some faces on these clocks are large and some have smaller display areas in the center of a larger artful outer area. You should consider your personality and your kitchen’s style or theme before purchasing one of these clocks. In the market place, you have at your disposal modern, contemporary and traditional styles. You will be able to keep track of time while adding an artful touch to the room. It will give you many years of visual pleasure and can be the focal point of your kitchen. Some kitchen wall clocks feature common themes. Through my own searches I have located clocks for the kitchen that are designed as roosters, food and drink, floral or classic. I have discovered that the most popular clock for the kitchen is battery operated. It comes with quartz movement so the time keeping is very accurate. You can become as creative as you like especially with the many choices that are just waiting for you. When I lived in Arizona I had two kitchens. I had a lot of fun picking out my clocks. The choices I made were of a sun dial and a colorful display of hot Chile peppers. My neighbors always had a great reaction and comment when they stepped into those rooms. I also lived in San Diego for several years. What I missed the most was the hundreds of humming birds that flew by my feeder on a daily basis. This led me to my most recent clock purchase for my kitchen in the home I live in today. It is a large colorful clock with several humming birds all around it. I can actually feel my mood lighten as I’m gazing at it. You can also personalize or custom design your kitchen wall clock. It also makes for a great gift. My best friend had just bought her first home. I wanted to get her something special. I designed a colorful melamine face in a shape of a plate. I chose a knife and fork for the hands and for the finishing touch I had her name engraved. It read Mel’s Kitchen. Melanie was delighted and is always telling me it has become the main conversational piece when visitors drop by. You can also use a photo of yourself, child or pet in a clock’s design. As you can see there are endless options when it comes to designing the type of face your kitchen wall clock could possibly end up with. You just have to allow your imagination to run wild. Remember this is a pleasant and for the most part inexpensive accent for your kitchen decor. So get busy and start searching, for the time is ticking away…
Get Rid of That Old Kitchen Look by Kitchens Remodeling
First things first: before you decide on which kitchens remodeling contractor you should hire, here is a checklist that you should go through. One: do you want a complete overhaul, or would you prefer to keep certain parts and aspects of your kitchen right now? For example: do you want that kitchen island to remain where it is or would you rather it moved to someplace else. Do you wish to retain the overhead kitchen cabinets, but renovate everything else? Do you want new floors as well? These are the sort of questions to ask when you are deciding on overhauling everything or almost everything.
Two: do you want your plumbing and electrical outlets moved as well?
Three: how many weeks (or months) are you allotting yourself for this home improvement / kitchens remodeling project?
Lastly: what is your expenditure ceiling? Exactly how much are you willing to spend for your kitchens remodeling project?
Once you have answered those questions, it would be fairly easy to limit yourself to the scope of your project. Limiting yourself is important here, since kitchen remodeling can be both a lengthy and expensive affair. However, it can work to your advantage if you do your research right, put in the necessary hours of work and hire the right kind of contractor. So how do you know which contractor to hire?
There are 2 kinds of contractor. The general contractor is likely to coordinate the entire kitchens remodeling project. That means he or she can hire anyone from interior designer to carpenters, to floor installers, to electricians, to plumbers, even professional artists to install that tile mosaic for your kitchen wall, if you want one. A general contractor pretty much handles the paperwork for you (from building permits to subscribing to building codes.) He or she can also give you a warranty for the work done. Needless to say, a general contractor comes with a steep price.
In case you decide to go whole hog and hire a general contractor, your best bet would always be the one who already has the experience and years behind the profession. You can ask friends and family members for referrals. If you can visit a physical site where the contractor is currently working or a finished project you can see, then so much the better. Remember, general contractors usually offer warranties in case you want something in your kitchen redone; so yes, try to see what provisions he or she would have in the contract about warranties. Most general contractors can work within a specific time frame. So if you have less than a month to go on with this home improvement project then make sure that the contractor will agree to get the work done by then.
On the other hand, if you decide to get most of the work done by yourself, but your would need more specialized contractors for plumbing, or electrical transfers, or carpentry, or glass installation, etc. your best bet would still lie on people with the most experience. Again, you can ask for referral from people you know. In this case, however, it is your job to make sure that they follow your specifications accordingly. If you can find specialized contractors who are willing to provide warranties for their jobs, then it might be worthwhile to hire them. There are a fair number of specialized contractors who have worked extensively in kitchen renovation projects. You can learn more about this particular background by simply asking them about their previous work.
